The S8 is a powerful security electric fence energiser (8 Joules stored). At maximum power it can deliver 4.5 Joules into 500R. This is sufficient to power 40klm of fence wire (under perfect conditions). Multi sector fences may be constructed by splitting the output of the S8 using a dual or quad splitter (PTE0060 series). These sectors (or zones) may be monitored using the PTE0700 or PTE0400 series monitors.
The S8 is available on request (at no extra cost), factory configured for lower power levels. This is recommended for small single sector fences. Reducing power output will also reduce the battery drain.

Unlike standard agricultural battery energisers the S8 is approved to AS/NZS60335.2.76 (similar to IEC standards) for connection to the mains via a power supply. It may also be connected to a battery which may also be under charge from a mains battery charger.

The energiser places a very short, very high voltage pulse on the fence live wires approximately once every second. The fence is 'safe' in that the pulse is too short to cause electrocution. The S8 energiser is powered from 12V DC derived from a power pack or battery. The PTE0700 or PTE0400 series monitors are recommended for monitoring a fence powered by the S8.
